Couch Time

Well, here I am sitting at my bar table in my "dining room", sipping a cup of jasmine tea and reheating my leftover chimichanga from dinner last night, adding some much needed photos and gearing up for a powder day on the hill! Spring snowstorms seem to have arrived, and I predict we will be receiving this type of precipitation throughout April and May. That is my little shrine on the right, with Ganesha and assorted other photos and trinkets, photos of Gurumayi and Muktananda and of course Nityananda. And now here is a photo taken in the other direction of my living area and new couch!!

I had been holding out for a free couch, preferably a new one (right?) but apparently that is asking a bit too much, so I broke down and got this one delivered yesterday. It is a perfect fit and super comfy and from that far left end I can look directly up Bear Creek and at Revelation Bowl.

Remember that last entry about not liking teaching? Well I taught last week with a great theme, the moon being half light and half dark, the days becoming an equal balance of light and dark, and all of this playing off of a conversation I had with JC about how to reconcile parts of yourself you are not so fond of (shadow side) as well as parts of your past you are not so proud of (shadow side). So I had some great classes and I realized how much of me enjoying teaching comes from preparing for class, having a strong theme and benefiting from students' enjoyment as well. Duh. I still need to find a job! I have some good leads I am going to follow up on today and see where it takes me.

As most of you also know, I went to Frannie and Erik's wedding on Friday with JC and here is a photo from the street on the way to the gondola:

We of course had heaps of fun, saw some old friends who used to live here and lots that live here but just don't run in the same circles, ate killer food, drank a little too much...all on par with a good 'ole wedding. Saturday turned into the perfect post-wedding day, which then merged into a delightful Sunday, both commencing with a grande breakfast, eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee, cheese, butter, stuff you put butter on, and then some more butter. We took a drive on Saturday up Silver Pick Road to Wilson Mesa, in his old Volvo--can't recall if it is a '68, I think that is right, lemon yellow, popped a couple of beers and watched red-tailed hawks cruising on the updrafts while brilliant bluebirds, back for the spring, proudly adorned the fenceposts and willows. We picked the feathery pussy willow branches down Fall Creek and brought them back for a window, just in time for the snowfall of Sunday night--contrast of winter and spring right there in the kitchen! Fat Alley for a cheeseburger and fried okra before heading home for nap time. JC's band played that night at the Sheridan, but Sunday morning was huge breakfast again, we parted ways for different stuff and then grilling steaks and a bottle of red while the storm blew in after the sun set that evening.

That's all I've got for now, heading up for some powder, only two more weeks left!!
