Time Capsule Unearthed

That is what greeted me as I rolled up the garage-style door to my storage unit in Montrose, 90 minutes away from Telluride. I included some photos up close to show you, but wow, lots of these were taken when we were in our mid-20's, new to the West, new to so many aspects of life. That's JB playing guitar (Widespread Panic again), my dad in the upper left-hand corner sometime in the 70's and one of the few memories I have of him laughing (wow), and top center is Kelly and me and our two dogs on a month-long camping trip down into the Baja Penninsula.

That is me as a tyke, pensive and shy. Believe it or not.

And in a sunnier moment, making cookies and ready to lick the spoon!

This next photo I love, because it was taken in the parking lot of a Jerry Garcia band concert in Maryland. Sure, we had seen hundreds (no joke) of Grateful Dead shows, but wow, JGB blew the doors off. Plus Neil Young opened up, solo, acoustic. Plus we found a tree in the center of the arena that became our refuge. Plus we were YOUNG. Not a care in the world. My sister and I attended a shocking number of concerts together over the years.

I will also include a before and after photo of my storage unit. I actually reduced my belongings by about half and moved untits right across the alley. Most of what I kept was books, camping gear and kitchen stuff.

I guess that's it for today. Tomorrow I am off to Boulder to visit with Kelly a bit more, then fly home to NC on Sunday.
