The amount of effort it took to stay out of bed until a reasonable time last night was superseded but the effort it took to remove myself from it this morning. We effectively thrashed ourselves over the weekend and are in the phase of feeding, hydrating and resting ourselves, which will continue throughout my work day.
We skied all day on Saturday and contrary to a surprising amount of opinions, I love these snow conditions. Yes, it is very variable, but the runs that are skiing good are skiing great! The sunny man-made snow is holding up the best and I had some of the best moments on my skis all winter, on Saturday.
I think we had record highs that day, temps relaxing in the low 60's. I figured out a thing or two about skiing soft slow slush as well as lumpy bumpy terrain. It's all in the hands. Just keep them up and forward and everything seems to want to fall into place behind them.
We did a few runs with Mel, her visiting brother and his friend in the afternoon, and my stage fright fear of skiing with anyone besides JC and the kids began to melt as quickly as the snow.
Sunday morning Ally and I gave the feet on head poses a run for their money. We are kind of torn between thinking we are missing a key ingredient that will open up the doorway to these poses, and thinking that we simply need to practice them more. We have given ourselves a short list of poses to do each day during the week so we can keep up on some shoulder openings until we meet again. It is a new and exciting step in our task of marching through the Level 2 poses! I love homework and I predict this new addition to our weekly session will pay off.
JC and Ricky skinned up behind Bridal Veil and skied the 3 Needles above Mud Lake and I literally bathed by body in the sun on our deck in my bikini until he returned, just after 2pm. The brutal truth is that skiing is making my legs bigger. So lame! But the sun felt so good, it reminded me so much of my Hawaii days, I just did so much yoga when I was there, then I would flop around on the beach in my bikini, high on yoga, spacey, relaxed, exhausted, depleted, mellow and deeply insightful. I felt that way again, after our big session, lying there just soaking up with warmth.
We skied a few runs late in the day, but the clouds, winds and cooler temps were rolling in by the time we came down and conditions were deteriorating by the minute. Still fun. I pulled a spinach lasagna together in about 7 minutes, then popped it in the oven while we showered and relaxed for a short evening together. The biggest bummer about the evenings staying light so late is they seem so short! Before I knew it I was dragging myself upstairs to fall into bed and finish a New Yorker short story before I night of psychedelic and improbable dreams overtook me.
There is barely a dusting of snow on the ground this morning. A perfect day to go to work.
