Thursday, December 15

It's -4 this morning, the clouds have moved on and another windless storm as left the trees sugared and blanketed.  My lunch break ski yesterday was glorious.  I like waiting until later in the day, when the light starts to shift and get golden and soft, the humans are making their way inside for hot treats and my day at work when I return is short and satisfying.

Gold Hill lift is running, Prospect is open, most of the runs on 6 are getting skied and it is starting to feel like we getting into the meat of the ski season.

We went to Francis' winter school concert right after work and it was great.  Thank God they have the 4th graders perform first.  Of course they ask us to stay and see the older kids sing and of course we slunk out immediately following the applause for his class.  We were tired and famished and just wanted to get home and make some tacos.

They did a deconstructed 12 Days of Christmas, where some of the kids break away during each segment and play instruments or dance at the front of the stage before rejoining the group of 4th graders (there must 125 of them or so) and continue the countdown to the partridge.  The music teacher said she got certified last summer in some movement-based music something-o-other and it was fun to see the kids both sing and play.

Great sleep last night, post-full moon always is, right?  We are both looking forward to this week passing, getting both our work parties behind us and figuring out the weekend.  Hockey is bullying its way into every possible plan we have on both our days off and we are hopeful it will work its way out with little stress and effort on our part.  Please?

Plus we have to get tree, for chrissakes, and there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to enjoy the holidays sometimes.  Once it is up, it is most delightful to sit in the light of the tree and sip coffee in the morning, but getting there seems rather far away.

Off to work and teaching yoga tonight - I think handstands are on the agenda. I love them and I think they are a great way to spend some time together this evening!
