Sunday turned out to be a great day, start to finish. JC and Francis caught the 9:00 bus and did some hike-to skiing, Little Rose and I did a few house projects then caught the 10:00 bus. We had a fun morning to ourselves, gliding around on Sundance, me making big sweeping turns and Rose following my tracks, whistling and singing songs in the morning sun.
We met up with the boys and did a few more runs together, Francis and I ending up at Oak, eating a basket of fries and watching some X Games while JC delivered Rose to her friend's birthday party across the street. The afternoon was ours to poke around the mountain, sniffing out residual powder stashes, trying to squeeze in just one more run before descending to our little ski chalet in town.
My Weekend Project:
I found a big $15.95 stuffed snake at Zia Sun when we were buying the birthday gift and I performed surgery on it to remove all the stuffing except for the head, which I then replaced with dried pinto beans, sewed him up tight, named him "Slither" and voila! We now have an official door snake to press against the crack that seeps frigid air into the house. Much better than a pair of ski pants on the entryway floor.
Remember the bag of key limes I got in Montrose? I juiced all 45 of them, producing exactly 2 cups of juice, froze one cup and used the other to make mini-tartlets with a coconut-graham cracker crust and merengue topping. Taste sensation for our Sunday evening.
A series of storms appears to be lining up this week so I am hopeful we can get out next weekend and have one day of touring and one day on the ski area.
